Will Brandy Be Punished Or Let Off?

Officials in the Los Angeles City Attorney's office are undecided over whether to prosecute Brandy for a fatal car accident last December.

Brandy's Range hit the back of a car which triggered a multi-car accident. As a result a 38-year-old woman died. One source tells TMZ there is a "conflict" in the City Attorney's office over whether Brandy should be prosecuted at all. Brandy could be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

Prosecutors are waiting on technical data that will measure the speed of Brandy's vehicle on impact. The data will help prosecutors determine if the ’Full Moon’ singer tried to brake before impact.

When the results are returned, the City Attorney will make a decision. One source says, "At this point it could go either way."

Victims Husband Sues Brandy

A lawsuit has been filed by the husband of the woman killed in a car crash involving singer Brandy Norwood, reports TMZ.

In the documents, filed today in Los Angeles, Marquane Hdidou claims that Brandy and another motorist were "recklessly and carelessly ... traveling too fast for conditions and "following too closely" on the 405 Freeway.

His wife, Awatef Aboudihaj died as a result of the collision on December 30.

Hdidou claims in the lawsuit that he has, "forever been deprived the support and maintenance, services, guidance, companionship, comfort, affection, solace, moral support, society, care, love, consortium and other benefits" from his wife.

Hdidou is suing for an undisclosed amount of financial relief to cover medical and funeral expenses, as well as legal costs and other damages.

Brandy is also facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by the victim's parents.

Brandy Causes Fatal Crash

Singer/Actress Brandy Norwood was involved in a fatal car crash and has reportedly admitted fault reports TMZ.com.

According to reports, the singer was driving her Land Rover on California's 405 freeway on 30 December 2006 when she failed to notice cars in front of her were slowing down.

Brandy braked late and collided with a Toyota, which in turn hit another car before striking the central divider. The Toyota was then hit by another car. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in critical condition and later died.

TMZ.com is also reporting that Brandy has admitted to being at fault in the fatal accident. In an exclusive conversation with the man driving directly behind Brandy at the time of her fateful crash, TMZ.com reports that the singer repeatedly blamed herself at the scene of the accident.
TMZ has more: '"She got upset, talking about how it was all her fault ... she didn't stop, kept saying how she hit the lady," says the witness.

He added, "Brandy walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars, then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road. She was obviously disoriented and highly upset."

The witness also claims he tried to calm the hysterical singer, and even dished out some legal advice, saying he advised her to stop admitting guilt. He also consoled her by repeatedly saying "It was an accident."'
