Mail - Christine Bleakley’s smile is so wide and so welcoming that it almost enters the room before she does. It’s a huge, beaming grin that nothing – not intrusive press reports of a relationship with her One Show co-presenter Adrian Chiles, nor the critical comments of Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips (who repeatedly reprimanded her for smiling too much) – can dim. There is, it has to be said, quite a lot for Christine to smile about at the moment. In addition to her successful 11-week stint on Strictly, she is being hailed as the saviour of BBC current affairs: ratings for the daily One Show have risen since she arrived from a meagre 1.5 million to a recent 5.8 million (edging very close to those of their ITV schedule rival Emmerdale).
