Britney Spears was been taken to UCLA Medical Centre (Los Angeles hospital) by ambulance to be put under psychiatric care for the second time this month.A police officer told Associated Press that the pop star was being taken to hospital to "get help."
Britney is on a three-day psychiatric hold, but sources say there is a "good possibility" that it will be extended to 14 days.
A source told Mail Online that Britney's trip to UCLA was the result of a planned "snatch and grab" intervention led by her mother Lynne.
"She had no idea it was coming," said the source, adding, "Lynne planned it down to the last detail."
When Britney heard she was being taken into care, she said, "Is something wrong?" and insiders say she was too "out of it" to resist.
TMZ reports the emergency treatment had been arranged by Britney's psychiatrist.
The singer has reportedly not slept for days, and her psychiatrist felt her mental stability had deteriorated rapidly.
The LA Times reports that more than a dozen motorbike police and an ambulance swept through the front gates of Spears's hilltop Studio City home shortly before 1am LA time. A police helicopter hovered overhead.
Spears was rushed from a side entrance of her home into an ambulance.
